MANILA, Philippines - Two-time national champion Noel Rivera of Fern-C Racing bucked the rain and ruled the sixth leg of the National Slalom Series at the SM Sucat Parking Lot grounds recently.
Rivera drove a near-perfect run on the slippery track, turning in the day’s fastest time of 50.16 seconds for the victory and the series’ solo lead.
He fended off the late charge by Peewee Mendiola and Niño Sarte to top the event backed by Gulfspeed, G-Motors, Karcraft and Monte Carlo Motors.
Milo Rivera, 16, came in fourth overall in another impressive performance by the youngest competitor in the event.
Meanwhile, the seventh leg goes out of town to Robinson’s San Fernando Pampanga on Aug. 7 with Rivera hoping to pad his five-point lead over Mendiola in the series.
