MANILA, Philippines - Vincent Floirendo pulled off a sweep to firm up his hold of the solo lead in the third leg of the Yokohama Philippine GT Championship at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
The Davao-native dominated the field early and turned in the fastest lap time of 1:47.976 to rule both the sprint and main GT races.
In the final race, Floirendo overtook all but defending champion William Tan and Bobby Unson en route to pocketing both the overall GT and GT300 crowns.
Running four seconds faster than the rest in the 11-man field, he wrapped up the 17-lap race in 29 minutes, 4.949 seconds or a far 1:17.359 seconds over Tan.
Arnel Carlos and his son Dwight Kevin Carlos wound up third and fourth overall while finishing 1-2, respectively, in the GT200 side of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by official tires Yokohama Philippines, Enersel Forte, official pace car Honda Cars-Kalookan, Rota Wheels, and Racing Beat@Wave89.1FM.
Alvin Ng of Ford Focus-TRS Racing checked in fifth as he topped the GT130 division over Nueva Ecija-bet Dean Joson while Marc Peter Thomann captured the GT100 title over Efren Lavina.
In the sprint race, Floirendo seized control early and clocked 18:03.218 or 58.726 seconds ahead of Tan in the 10-lap race.
Dwight Kevin Carlos and his father Arnel came in third and fourth, respectively.
Dean Joson ruled the GT130 class over defending champion Sean Redpath of Ford Focus-TRS while Marc Peter Thomann won the GT100 title over Lavina.
Arvin Monzon topped the mini-cooper event, beating Solomon Picache and Rudy Bunag.
