Manila, Philippines - Action in Baseball Philippines Series 8 shifts to Pampanga today with Batangas seeking to firm up its hold of third place against a struggling Dumaguete side at Clark Field.
The Bulls open their two-game series against the Uni-bikers today at 1 p.m. looking to pull away from the tight race for the final two spots in the league organized by Community Sports Inc. and sponsored by Gatorade and Rawlings.
Taguig clashes with Alabang in the first game at 9 a.m. in another crucial match among contenders for the remaining berths in the semis.
Manila and Cebu booked the first two semis seats with 8-1 and 72 cards, respectively. The two teams clashed last week in Cebu with the Sharks hacking out an 8-6 triumph to seize the solo lead.
Batangas totes a 3-5 record while Taguig and Alabang are tied for fourth with 2-5. Dumaguete is at the bottom with a 1-5 card.
Batangas split its series with Taguig last weekend, dropping a 6-10 decision at home in Lipa last Saturday before bouncing back to defeat the Patriots, 4-2, last Sunday.
Dumaguete is hard-pressed to notch a victory after it fell to Alabang, 0-1, last June 12 as Tigers’ Carlos Muñoz tossed a no-hitter, the first in the league’s four-year history.
The league is backed by Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park, Victory Liner, Clark Development Corporation, Emperador Distillers, Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, Philippine Umpires Association and DZSR Sports Radio 918.
