Clarice wins in Patrimonio duel

MANILA, Philippines - Clarice Patrimonio outclassed sister Christine, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and advanced to the semifinals of the fourth Alcala Open tennis tournament at the Quezon Capital Government Center in Lucena City Saturday.

Johnny Arcilla also advanced with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Elbert Anasta.

The Patrimonio sisters later teamed up to beat the pair of Arabie Agero and Jennelyn Magpayo, 6-4, 6-4, in the doubles event.

Next on the schedule is the Gov.Anacleto Memorial Cup where Bien Zoleta, who topped the Asia’s Cup, will be defending her title.

Nestor Marquez, president of the Lucena City Tennis Club, headed the tournament in support of the development program of Rep. Irvin Alcala (2nd Dist., Quezon). Godfrey Caliao is tournament director.

“This is our club’s contribution to the training program of our national players. It aims to provide additional venue for our players’ exposure for highly competitive tournaments, ” Marquez said.
