Manila, Philippines - Concepcion nearly blew its homecourt advantage and a 21-point first quarter lead against Tinajeros Sunday night, barely hanging on, 94-90, in the 2nd Coca-Cola Hoopla Intra-City elimination in Malabon.
After roaring to a 28-7 spread Concepcion fell prey to a full-court pressing opponent, saw the lead dwindle down to 50-38 at the half and 73-66 after three quarters before Tinajeros leveled at 82-all.
The visitors lost steam from their big comeback effort, however.
In Antipolo, Mayamot dominated Bagong Nayon from start to finish, cruising to a 119-77 victory. Kasipagan, in Manila, followed suit with an 87-47 rout of Bukid, and San Roque, in Cainta, left no doubt as well in dealing Sta. Rosa a 66-46 shellacking.
Bernabe, in Las Piñas, had a tougher time turning back Fajardo, 91-81; A.S.P., in Muntinlupa, went through the wringer against Yasdo, 52-45; and Parang, in Marikina, settled the outcome against Sta. Elena, 103-94, but only after an extra five-minute period.
