MANILA, Philippines – Alaska star guard LA Tenorio will be the special guest in the opening day of the fourth FCBL Freego Cup basketball tournament this coming Saturday at the Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City.
Tenorio will deliver the inspiration messages to the players of the 12 competing high school teams of this annual cagefest which also has the backing of Talk ‘N Text.
Defending champion San Beda will start its title retention bid against University of Perpetual Help in the second game of the triple-header of the tournament that is also supported by Powerbest Mktg Inc., Colt Commercial, Old Chinatown Kopitiam, Mandarin Sky Seafood Shabu-Shabu Restaurant, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, Fresh Gear, Apple Tape and Happe Toothpaste.
Tenorio was a former Red Cub from 1998 to 2000 and was part of the 1999 champion team in the NCAA. He played for Ateneo and helped the Blue Eagles snare the crown in 2002.
Nelson Chan, president of the Einsco Corp. Inc., makers of Freego Jeans, is also expected to attend the opening day of the high school cagefest that aims to give the youth an outlet to hone their basketball skills.
