CEBU City, Philippines – Local bet Sally Mae Siso and Rogelio Estanio Jr. trounced their respective rivals to advance to the semifinals of the Smart presents Head Age-Group National Tennis Tour 2011 Junior Satellite Circuit fourth leg at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.
Siso, the reigning girls’ 18-under class champion, beat Monica Jamarillos, 8-1, in the quarterfinals to face Hanna Grace Espinosa in the semifinals, an 8-1 winner against Chelsea Gacho.
Andrea Regino blanked Bianca Cenabre, 8-6, in the quarters and will take on Aira Mae Putiz, who swept Elma Dasian, 8-0, in the tournament co-presented by Head and Smart Communications headed by chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and Smart Sports chief Patrick Gregorio.
Estanio, who swept the boys’ 18 and 16-under titles in Koronadal, Davao and Cagayan De Oro legs, made it to the finals again in two divisions as he turned back Joseph Tallo, 10-4, in the semis of 18-under and beat Mark Enriquez, 10-7, in the 16-under Final Four.
The opening of the Cebu stop was graced by Philta regional vice-president Jess Lagman and Marjo Nunez Seastres, Cebu area head of Chris Sports, a leading tennis and other sports and equipment retailer with two stores in Cebu, and more than 30 branches nationwide, and which recently opened a branch in Boracay, D Mall.
