Morales fight on Sports5

Manila, Philippines - Filipino boxing fans get a glimpse of comebacking Mexican legendary fighter Erik Morales as Sports5, the sports arm of TV5, telecasts live from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas his title fight against dangerous Argentinian puncher Marcos Maidana today for the interim World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight championship.

Billed as “Action Heroes”, the 12-round bout will be aired from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on TV5 and on AksyonTV UHF Channel 41. Primetime replay of the match will be on AKTV on IBC from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. of the same day.

Morales, best known among local boxing fans for his memorable trilogy against Manny Pacquiao, came out of retirement last year and fought Jose Alfaro, whom he decisioned last March 21.

The 34-year-old native of Tijuana, Mexico known as “El Terrible”, has a ring record of 51 wins and six losses, including 35 knockouts. His three fights with fellow Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera still remains as one of the greatest trilogies in the long history of prizefighting.

Considered one of the most lethal punchers in the sport today, Maidana, 27, is expected to give the veteran warrior a good fight notwithstanding a unanimous decision loss he suffered against Amir Khan last December for the WBA light-welterweight crown.
