Lakay MMA fighters rule URCC tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Roy “Punisher” Docyogen, Honorio “Rock” Banario and Kevin “Silencer” Belingon underscored Lakay MMA’s top billing as top mixed martial arts (MMA) club in the country today, winning their respective matches in the URCC-Colt 45 presentation dubbed “Collision XIX” at the World Trade Center in Pasay City recently.

Docyogen kept his URCC (Universal Reality Combat Championship) pinweight crown by outpointing YawYan Buhawi’s Alvin “Sindikato” Ramirez in a victory that extended his amazing streak to 10 in the event presented by Colt 45 and sponsored by PCSO, Tribal Gear and Chris Sports.

Docyogen, who also beat Ramirez in 2009, has been undefeated since winning the crown in 2006.

Banario ended the winning run of Davao’s KO artist Angelito “Saint” Manguray by posting a rear naked choke victory in their lightweight tussle to become the fourth Lakay MMA fighter to win a title.

Belingon, on the other hand, scored a knockout win over Davao City’s Isaac Tuling in a “Superfight” to complete Lakay MMA’s domination of the event also backed by Solar Sports, 99.5RT, Frenzy Condoms, Yoshinoya and VRP Medical Center.

Meantime, Jessie “Finisher” Rafols crowned himself as the new bantamweight champion by pulling off a TKO win over Hideo “Death From Tokyo” Morikawa.

Other winners in the 10-fight event were Bernard “Hitman” Soriano, Kark Rodriguez, Jilmar “Stone Cold” Tangayan, Andrew Benibe, Red “Filipino Bolo Punch” Romero and Deftac’s Chris Luna

Soriano and Rodriguez scored rear naked choke wins over Charles “El Tigre” De Tomas and Dowen “Rampage” Dela Tonga in the first round of the 10-minute, two-round contest, Tangayan won by split decision over Visayas flyweight champion Agustin “Demolisher” Delarmino, Benibe over Michael Dan Rubio, Romero over Franz Altarejos and Luna over Frank Navarro.
