MANILA, Philippines - Rogelio Estanio Jr. stayed on course for a double repeat in the Smart presents HEAD Age-Group National Tennis Tour 2011 Junior Satellite Circuit as he disposed of separate rivals to advance to the semifinal round of the boys’ 16 and 18 divisions at the Ecoland Phase 4 tennis courts in Davao City Sunday.
Estanio Jr., seeded third in the boy’s 18 category, trounced Hakeem Cariga, 10-4, to arrange a semis clash with No. 5 Andre Banate, who scored a walkover win over Kurt Gerapusco.
Estanio Jr., who swept the two age categories in the Koronadal first leg recently, also rolled into the 16-under semis with a 10-4 victory over Mikko Alpas, 10-4. He will face fourth seed Jeleardo Amazona, a 10-2 winner over James Sumaylo.
Hakeem Cariga survived Emir Cariga, 10-7, to clinch the other semis ticket in the boy’s 16-under against No. 5 Elvie Lopez, who defeated Abdulqahar Allian, 10-5.
In the boy’s 14 under class of the event backed by Chris Sports, Meralco, Maynilad, Head, the official ball, and Toalson, top seed Jeleardo Amazona demolished No. 5 Jaffary Cariga, 10-2, to arrange a semis duel with Angelo Factora, who beat Mikko Ringia, 10-7.
Jaffary Cariga, the top ranked player in the boy’s 12 under, routed John Alejandre, 10-1, and will take on Jericho Painagan, who routed No. 6 Janus Ringia, 10-4, in the semifinals of the 13-leg tourney sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
Third seed Joshua Regino edged Jeff Alqueza, 10-8, and will square off with John Bryan Otico, a 10-0 winner over Nicole Gorospe in the boys’ 12-under category.
In the unisex 10 under class, top seed Janus Ringia beat Cyrin Martinez, 10-1, and will take on Christian Llavore, who beat Tee Jay Avila, 10-2, in the semis. Joshua Regino blanked Abdul Cariga, 10-6, and will dispute the other finals berth with Jericho Painagan, a 1-4 winner against Nicole Gorospe.
