Ace karters in KF2-KF3 karting cup series in Carmona today

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top caliber karters put their skills and high-powered engines to a big test as they battle each other anew in the second leg of the 2011 KF2-KF3 Cup Karting Series today at the Carmona Racetrack.

Defending champion and ace karter Stefano Marcelo of Maranello-San Miguel Corporation-Marcelo Racing is eyeing a three-peat feat in the KF2 class but faces tough challenge against VJ Suba of FERN-C Racing and Franco Reyes of Jet Racing.

After the first two races last month, Suba lead the series following his runner-up finish in Race 1 and his big victory in Race2 while Reyes is second overall after winning Race 1 and finishing fourth in Race 2.

Marcelo, who ended ninth in Race 1 and second in Race 2, will also have to deal with strong contenders Milo Rivera of FERN-C Racing, Marlon Stockinger, Archim Lagman, Joseph Castelar of Castelar Racing, Ken Monzones of GP1-Natmo Asia, Roby Benito of Ready2Race and Arvin Drueco.

Adding headaches for Marcelo are Japanese ace drivers Reo Takahashi and Daiki Sasaki of Kuwayama Racing who’ll try to steal the limelight from Filipino rivals.

It will be an exciting three-way showdown among Jet Racing’s Jette Calderon and FERN-C Racing’s Vrei-Ar Suba and Estefano Rivera for the KF2 crown.

Calderon and Suba split honors in the first two races with Rivera consistently finishing second in both encounters. Completing the field are Japanese Kazuki Miyasawa and Marino Sato, Indonesian Andi Tangguh Farid, Ready2Race-Tuason Racing bet Basti Escalante, Jaz Monzones, Daniel Miranda, JT Gullas and another FERN-C Racing bet Matthew Chan.
