K-Swiss puts up running clinics

MANILA, Philippines - K-Swiss is putting up a clinic for beginners and advanced runners to prepare them for the full marathon in line with the top running gear’s search for representatives to compete in the Los Angeles Marathon next year.

“We will be sending two lucky runners to Los Angeles to join the LA Marathon,” said Anton Gonzalez, president of Planet Sports, the local distributor of K-Swiss. “But this time, we would want them to be prepared to finish the 42K run.”

K-Swiss Philippines sent two runners to the LA Marathon last March and is again in search for Filipino bets in the tough race slated March 20, 2011.

Dubbed the K-Swiss Running Club, the clinic will serve as the platform for beginners and even advance runners to learn how to last a full marathon. Basic and advanced techniques will be conducted in the clinic depending on the participant’s level of exposure to running.

A total of 13 sessions will be held starting Dec. 6 and every Monday thereafter at the University of Makati oval (UMAK) along JP Rizal Avenue near the running area of The Fort from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Those who are able to complete at least 10 sessions will be qualified to join in a raffle for the LA Marathon stint. The prize includes round trip tickets, hotel accommodations for four days and three nights, local transport and an entry to join the LA Marathon. There will also be consolation prizes for the second and third winners and freebies for non-winners.

Heading the club is coach Peter Gonzalez, the athletic program director of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP).

Peter Gonzalez has been coaching since 1999 and has attended and enrolled in seminars and courses from China to Australia and has represented the country in triathlon competitions.
