MANILA, Philippines - University of Perpetual Help System-Biñan scored a 72-63 upset over San Beda College Alabang in the NCAA-South Men’s basketball tournament held at FAITH, Tanauan City, Batangas.
Perpetual was paced by Jake Yagonia, who made 23 points to lead all scorers. Rodolfo Baudi chipped in 15 points for the Saints.
San Beda played sans ace gunner James Panaligan who served a one-game suspension after being slapped with a disqualifying foul in the Red Lions’ last elimination game.
Ivan Gallardo led San Beda’s offense with 21 markers.
On the other hand, defending champion Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluyong went all out to hold on to their title after defeating host First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, 56-49.
