Django, Bata nail 3rd wins in US tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Reigning world 9-ball champion Francisco “Django” Bustamante and former double world titlist Efren “Bata” Reyes rolled to their third straight victories to advance in the US Open 9-ball Championship at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Virginia, USA Wednesday.

Bustamante subdued Oscar Dominguez of Mexico, 11-6, to set up a showdown with Manny Chau of Peru while Reyes trounced Tomoo Takano of Japan, 11-2, to arrange a duel with American Marc Vidal.

Ronnie Alcano, Jose Parica and Lee Vann Corteza, however, dropped their respective matches and will have to sweep their remaining games in the losers’ bracket to stay in the hunt.

Alcano bowed to Darren Appleton of Great Britain, 7-11, Parica lost to Daryl Peach of England, 6-11, and Corteza dropped a 7-11 decision to Thorsten Hohmann of Germany.
