MANILA, Philippines - Hollywood star and road safety advocate Michele Yeoh has endorsed the fourth Auto Review Run for Road Safety and Courtesy which hits the road on Sept. 25 at The Fort in Taguig.
The United Nations goodwill ambassador for children’s road safety, Yeoh was in the country last May to pitch the need for motorcycle drivers, particularly kids, to wear safety helmets, and gave the thumbs-up to the running event, according to organizer and Auto Review host Ron delos Reyes.
“We were able to interview Ms. Yeoh and she wholeheartedly endorsed this running event, realizing that runners keenly know how important it is for courtesy and safety on the road,” Delos Reyes said.
“She noted that it (the race) is an ideal vehicle for this kind of advocacy,” said Delos Reyes.
On tap are the 3K, 5K and 10K contests in both men’s and women’s divisions and they are looking forward to around 2,000 runners and motorists to take part.
The event also features side events such as a “Dribble for Safety” competition where the runners will try to identify road signs while they dribble a basketball on custom-made course.
