PSL holds 4-leg swimming series

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swimming League is conducting the first of a series of four monthly age group swimming competitions Sept. 4 at the Amoranto swimming pool in Quezon City.

The Quezon City government headed by Mayor Herbert Bautista and the Amoranto Sports Complex, managed by Andy Apostol, have thrown their full support to the competitions which aim to encourage young boys and girls to excel in the sport and prepare them for national and international competitions.

The QC government and Apostol are giving the PSL free use of the complex’s 50-meter Olympic pool in line with the government’s and PSL’s grassroots development program. It is supported by Freego and Growee.

Other competitions will be held Oct. 2, Oct. 29 and Nov. 27.

The PSL competition is open to all swimmers with age brackets at 6 years and under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over. No membership is required. Entry fees will be waived for the most outstanding swimmers from the past PSL competitions.

From the four-round competition, the PSL will choose candidates who will undergo intensive training for upcoming international competitions.

“I’m happy that the age group competitions are moving on until November. I thank our sponsors Growee and Freego and Mr. Apostol for their support,” said PSL president Susan Papa.
