Fern-C racing karters step up drive in series

MANILA, Philippines - Fern-C Racing is banking on its young but talented wards as it launches its campaign in the 2010 Magnolia Purewater Karting Super Series fifth leg this weekend at the Enchanted Kingdom Kart Trak in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

While veteran Vencer John Suba and Rookie Karter of the Year Estefano Rivera are expected to spearhead the charges, Fern-C Racing is pinning its hopes on new recruits Sacha Feliciano, Matthew Chan and Mini-ROK top contender Aira Medrano with the big support of Fern-C, PCR-Italy, Placewell International Inc., Getaway Tours Int’l. Inc., and Golf Sky.

Both Feliciano and Chan displayed marked improvement in the kickoff of the Asian Karting Open Championship in Carmona last July as they hope to move up to the top three spot in the Formula SL Novice division.

Sacha, a Woodrose student who’s also a two-time equestrian gymkana champion and an MVP of Alaska soccer, unveiled nerves of steel up against her male rivals to wind up third overall in the Asian Karting Yamaha Junior Cup.

Matthew is a freshman of St. Jude Catholic School and ranks third among the best advanced Kumon students nationwide. He topped the Asian Karting Open Yamaha Junior Cup but ended fourth runner-up after some technical infringement.

Aira Medrano, a Grade 8 Sacred Heart College student who’s been reaping accolades as a champion swimmer in national and international competitions, pulled a heartstopping victory at the Boomland Kart Trak to wrest overall leadership in the Mini-ROK division.

“FERN-C Racing is committed to the thrust of motorsports development in the country and these young kids emulates the stamina, endurance and championship tradition that makes FERN-C the top Vitamin-C supplement in the Philippines,” said FERN-C chairman and CEO Tom Tan.

VJ Suba, who made it third in the Asian Karting Pre-Finals, hopes to flash his wares anew in the Formula 125 Open Seniors while Estefano Rivera, one of the top contenders in the ROK Novice and ROK Overall classes, is raring to stage a comeback.
