MANILA, Philippines - Pricilla Loren Aquino of the Philippine Swimming League bagged a record 13 gold medals to become the most outstanding swimmer at the Brunei Inter Club Swimming Championship recently.
Aquino set marks in all 13 events – 200m individual medley (2:46.55), 200m free (2:28.29), 100m free (1:07), 400m free (5:13.66), 50m free (30.66), 50m back (36.64), 200m back (2:45), 100m back (1:19.52), 50m breast (41.89), 100m breast (1:29), 200m breast (3:07.23), 50m fly (33.85) and 100m fly (1:19.52).
Aquino, member of the Joey Andaya swimming team, won the most number of golds and points to win the most outstanding swimmer award.
PSL president Susan Papa, a former national swimmer, said the PSL is sending Aquino, a student of the Meridian International Learning Experience, to the next international swimming competition as an incentive for her excellent performance.
“We want to motivate our young swimmers, and we should continue to expose them now and prepare them for bigger International competitions,” said Papa.
Other medal winners were Millicent Matienzo (3 gold, 9 silver), Sam Andrei Doragos (2 gold, 2 bronze), Emmanuel Joshua Lorbes (1 silver, 6 bronze), Portia Kate Doragos (3 bronze), Antonio Aquino and Don Quisumbing (1 bronze each).
