MANILA, Philippines - Big names in the local darts world led by the semifinalists in last year’s World Masters competition will vie for honors in the inaugural event of the Professional Dart Tour on Aug. 14 at the Ambassador Hotel along Mabini St., Malate, Manila.
Lourence Ilagan, the World Masters semifinalist, has confirmed his participation together with former national champion (PhilMasters, National Open and Philippine Cup in the 1980-90 era) and 1988 PhilMasters singles champion Joel Songsong.
Also joining the event are crack lady darters like veterans Cora Mercado and Kathy Odullo and youthful Rose Noble, Tengga Calderon and Ardie Tikman.
The keen rivalries in the 70s between the Ballesca brothers (Boy, Bulit, Cubie, Manuel and Vic) and the Eribal brothers (Mario, Cesar, Boy and Ted) are also expected to be revived with the participation of some of these veterans.
Cash prizes totaling P25,000, trophies and raffle items will be up for grabs in the tourney supported by Jojo Claudio of Toby’s Sports, Jikky Valmonte and Steve Dorotheo of Monster Darts and organized by Cubie and Manuel Ballesca.
The champion will get P12,000 with the runnerup and third-placer receiving P6,000 and P2,800 respectively.
Other prizes are p1,400 for fourth, P800 each for joint fifth and sixth and P600 each for joint seventh and eight.
