MANILA, Philippines - The NCAA cracked the whip on its erring players early, suspending a high school player from Emilio Aguinaldo College and reprimanding a number of players from Mapua and Perpetual Help in the seniors division for their unsportsmanlike conduct last Sunday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Management Committee chair Frank Gusi of host San Sebastian yesterday sacked Aldrin Guinita, who was ejected for throwing a punch in the Brigadiers’ match with the Junior Chiefs.
“He (Guinita) will serve a one-game suspension in their next game,” said Gusi.
Mapua’s Ray Cabrera and Narr Garay, meanwhile, escaped suspension but have been warned for their involvement in the bench-clearing incident during the Mapua-Perpetual match. Commissioner Aric del Rosario said their offense did not merit an automatic suspension.
Perpetual Help’s Arnold Danganan, a rookie transferee from STI, was also spared a suspension since he was only assessed a flagrant foul 1 against Mapua’s Andretti Stevens.
