World-ranked Taiwanese vie in FDG Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Local fans get a rare chance to watch world-class badminton as Taiwanese Cheng Wen Hsing and Chien Yu Chin display their talent and skills in the seventh FDG/Partners Cup Invitational Badminton tournament firing off this Saturday at the Yonex Badminton courts in Mandaluyong.

Currently ranked No. 8 in the world, the talented doubles pair will slug it out with veteran internationalist Kennevic Asuncion and Frederick Go, president of Robinsons Land, in a series of exhibition matches in the FDG Cup, the highlight of the one-day event which also features the Partners Cup.

Cheng and Chien, who ruled last year’s Yonex Korea Badminton Super Series, are coming off a series of semifinal finishes in the Badminton Asia Championships, the Swiss Super Series and the German Open. They also topped Asia Zone prelims of the recent Thomas & Uber Cup.

The FDG Cup features the masters and elite categories.

Meanwhile, a banner field of 200 players will clash for top honors in various divisions in the Partners Cup side of the event also staged to foster camaraderie among the management and staff of Robinsons Land Corp.’s (RLC) and its business partners, including architects, consultants, project managers, contractors and suppliers and friends.
