MANILA, Philippines - San Beda hardly broke a sweat in beating Far Eastern University, 98-69, to rule the 3rd-FREEGO Filipino-Chinese Basketball League (FCBL) over the weekend at the Phil. Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City.
The Red Cubs were simply too much for the wary Baby Tams and captured the crown of the annual high school cagefest also supported by Smart Communications.
Baser Amer had a game-high 18 points for San Beda, which led ,53-36, at halftime and never looked back en route to the crown. Von Chaves added 14 markers for the Red Cubs and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Austin Fabian and Mark Tanoy each had 13 points for FEU, which had its best finish in the tournament also being backed by Mighty Sports, Colt Commercial, Star Galaxy Industrial Fabricator Inc., Powerbest Marketing Inc., Mandarin Sky Seafood & Shabu-Shabu Restaurant, Multimotors Auto Part Inc. and Apple Tape.
Tournament director Horacio Lim expressed his gratitude to the school officials and the sponsors for supporting the third season of the league.
