MCC bets vie in US chess

MANILA, Philippines – Seven Milo Checkmate kids will fly to US on June 8 to join the 2010 Las Vegas International Chess Festival slated to be held at South Point Hotel on June 10-13.

The players are composed of Jonathan Abo of Pasig, Al Matthew Canafe of Tabaco, Albay, Stephen Kyle Cinco of Muntinlupa, Judino Tadeo Macayan of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Paul Adrian Manila of Parañaque, Richmond Obogne of Quezon City and Ma. Roselle Vicencio of Parañaque.

They will be accompanied by WNM Mila Emperado who will act as their guardian-coach. The team will try to surpass or duplicate the team’s performance last year.

Their trip is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, National Chess Federation of the Philippines and Las Vegas-based Polynesian Entertainment owned by Ms. Rozita Lee.

Meanwhile, the selection for members of Canadian-bound Milo Checkmate team reels off today, May 29, and tomorrow, May 30, respectively. The last elimination is set at 8am today at Times Plaza located at UN cor Taft Avenue while the semifinals is scheduled at 9am tomorrow at Eton Cyberpod Mall inside Mang Inasal opposite Robinson Galeria along Ortigas Avenue cor EDSA.
