MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian bounced back strong from a setback the last time out as it fashioned out a 108-49 thrashing of University of the Philippines in the FilOil Flying V Accel Badolato Juniors Cup at the Arena yesterday.
The Golden Staglets took control from start to finish, posting an early 19-point lead and sustaining the effort to clinch a quarterfinal berth from Group C with a 4-1 win-loss record.
Gino Jumao-as and Ram Pante made 23 and 22 points, respectively, while AJ Vitug added 14 points for the Golden Staglets.
“We had problems with our ball rotation in our game against La Salle. That was the main reason why we lost. We worked on that today,” said SSC-R coach Raymond Valenzona.
Far Eastern University likewise secured a quarterfinal seat as it walloped Adamson, 76-57.
The Baby Tams came out strong in the third period, building a 49-34 lead before fending off a chase by the Baby Falcons.
FEU pulled away for good in the fourth period with AA Fabian firing 11 of his 26 points as the Morayta-based squad notched a fourth victory in Group B.
“We focused on our zone defense and transition game,” said FEU assistant coach Warren Gonzales.
