Gaddi sweeps karting novice races

MANILA, Philippines -  JeT Racing’s Christian Gaddi raised his level of driving up a notch in the higher Formula SL Novice Class of the 2010 Magnolia Super Karting Series to win via a sweep of the qualifying, pre-final and finals races at the narrow, but challenging Boomland Kart track in Manila last Sunday.

Like in the Mini-Rok division, which he has dominated for a long time, Gaddi was also peerless in the Formula SL Novice Class as he topped the grueling 28-lap final race and registered the fastest laptime of 31.855.

Gaddi effortlessly maintained the pole in the final race en route to the big winning margin of 5.921 seconds over runner-up Christopher Tsui for the Formula SL Novice Class overall lead.

“I wanted to be in front from the qualifying heat to the final race because the Boomland Track was too narrow and it was kind of difficult to overtake those in front,” said Gaddi, who thanked his parents Teena and Justin, sponsors Albee Benitez, Mandy Reyes, his JeT Racing teammates and crew and his tuner Kuya Omel for the support.

Due to the narrow course, Gaddi found it imperative to set the tone of the race early, which he did in the qualifying and final races. His most exciting challenge, though, came in the pre-final, where Ayrton Cuesta and PCR-Tough Gear’s Sacha Feliciano jumped the gun on him at the start of the race, leaving him at third spot. But when the perfect time came in the fifth lap, he grabbed the lead from Cuesta and Feliciano and took the lead for good all the way to the finish line.
