MANILA, Philippines - Running stars of yesteryears relive their glories along side corporate managers when the Sunkist Healthy Heart Executive Run gets underway at the Ayala Alabang Village Sunday, April 25.
Starting and finishing at the University Avenue parking lot in front of La Salle Zobel, the run has separate divisions for executives (at least senior manager in a company with paid up capital of P10M, rank of major in the AFP or chief inspector in the PNP) and masters (40 years and above for men and 35 years and above for women) over the 10K and 5K distances.
Multi-Milo Marathon champion Ray Antoque, former national marathon titlist Manny Bitog and ex-Gintong Alay standout Edgardo Pedregoza (all in their fifties) banner the field that include erstwhile perennial contenders Mario Canja and Romulo Manara.
With the topnotch runners from the 80s and 90s coming in sub-40s and sub-45s, the executives are seen to show their running prowess to the hilt as they do with their wiles in boardroom jousts in the RFM-sponsored run.
Tom Carrasco, president of the organizing Triathlon Association of the Philippines, said, “While the country is experiencing anew the running boom it had in the 80s, sadly the older runners are not given the chance to shine as age-group competitions are shelved aside. We want to fill up the vacuum.”
P5,000, P3,000, P2,000, P1,000 and P1,000 await the top 5 male and female finishers in the masters 10K and P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 for the top 3 male and female in the executives 10K.
Top 5 males and females in both the executives and masters divisions in the 5K merit medals as well as the top 3 in the seven (four male and three female) age groups of the masters 10K.
