MANILA, Philippines - Back to his deadly form after recovering from a left arm injury, Eduard Folayang defends his welterweight crown today against Korean Dooje Chung in the featured bout of the Colt 45-Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) XVI at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati City.
The multi-titled wushu expert who represented the country in several major tournaments, including the World Cup of wushu where he won a silver medal, said he’s ready and determined to beat Chung as he’s eager to extend his impressive winning streak in the URCC to six.
“OK na ako, handang-handa na para sa laban,” said Folayang, who has three TKO wins in five URCC fights.
Although he was impressed when he saw how the Korean fights through a video tape, Folayang said he remains upbeat of his chances.
Aside from the Folayang-Chung showdown, nine other equally exciting bouts await mixed martial arts fans in the event presented by Colt 45. Tickets are pegged at P1,000 and P500. Action starts at 7 p.m.
The comeback fight of former flyweight champion Richard Lasprilla is also a must see as he tangles with rising star Angelo Estanol in the event backed by Tribal Gear and My PLDT Watchpad with Solar Sports, Solar TV, NU107 and 99.5RT as media partners.
Angelito Manguray, the 42-year-old dentist from Davao, also hopes to make URCC history as the oldest champion when he battles Salvador Domasian for the vacant title in the 10-bout event. The title was previously held by MJ Banaga.
The heavyweight clash between Manila-based Ukrainian Igor Subora and Australian Nicholas Mann also merits attention and so is the pinweight duel of Dindo Campo and George Lusadan.
