ICTSI jungolf circuit resumes at Valley, Riviera

MANILA, Philippines - The quest for national rankings points resumes today as junior golfers tackle the short but challenging executive courses of Valley in Antipolo and Riviera in Silang, Cavite in the second stop of the ICTSI Jungolf Circuit.

Ninety players are entered in the 18-hole tourney with Marvi Monsalve, Princess Superal, Rupert Zaragosa, Carl Corpus, Jed Dy, Bernice Olivarez-Ilas and Arnie Taguines returning to seek second straight victories.

Monsalve eyes a repeat in girls Class A for 15-17 years old, Superal goes for a back-to-back feat in girls Class B (13-14) and Zaragosa bids to make it two in a row in boys Class C (11-12) at Valley.

Corpus and Olivarez-Ilas are targeting win No. 2 in Class F (9-10) while Taguines and Dy are eyeing the same in Class E (6 and under) in the tourney backed chiefly by ICTSI and also supported by Philippine Airlines, McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.

“We see that our junior golfers are all enthusiastic with the ranking system and the series will get more exciting as we go along,” said Luigi Tabuena, president of the organizing Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines. “We can’t thank Valley, Riviera and our other host clubs enough for giving the kids the chance to play on weekends.”

Alexes Nallos, Miguel Tabuena, Keanu Jahns and the other standouts of last week’s leg decided to rest for their upcoming stint in the national stroke play championships at Canlubang, They are expected to be back in the third leg at Ayala Greenfield.
