Young posts first drag race crown

Young, in his reliable Honda Civic, clocked 12.654 seconds to beat Ronald Nierras for the expert crown of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines and supported by San Miguel Corp., Pilipinas Shell, Yokohama, Pagcor, Aeromed, Hastings Motor Corporation, Inside Racing and Stoplight TV.

Young beat Boy Francisco of Team Ready and Russel Abobo to get into the semifinals where he turned back Joey Galang of Mohspeed with a 12.555-second clocking to make the finals.

Nierras disposed of Jimson Sze, Lanchester Uy and loser’s bracket winner Morris Miranda in the early rounds then upstaged Allan Ararao in the semis to set up a final showdown with Young.

Manio clocked 15.590 seconds to rule the Sportsman class over Carlo Manuel of Pit 21 and Patrick Ryan Yu of Cabspeed.
