Host RTU gains headway in SCUAA-NCR

MANILA, Philippines - Host Rizal Technological University flexed its muscle in nearly all sports – basketball, volleyball, softball, table tennis and beach volleyball – as hostilities in the 22nd State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association-National Capiital Region (SCUAA-NCR) went full blast at the RTU qudrangle in Mandaluyong and other venues.

RTU struck hardest in the centerpiece sports of basketball and volleyball, sweeping all their matches on the second full day of competitions, to take the headstart in the race for the general championship.

The Mandaluyong-based team also posted twin kills in softball, table tennis and beach volleyball in another awesome display of strength in the week-long sports competitions.

In men’s basketball, RTU made it three in a row by beating Philippine State College of Aeronautics, 119-40, before a big home crowd at the RTU gym.

Seven players, led by Robby Celiz and Lee Dennice Villamor, scored in double figures for the team’s third straight win.
