Che'Lus erects 17-pt lead over Baguio CC

BAGUIO , Philippines  – Team Che’Lus I pooled a 117 and opened a 17-point lead over Baguio Country Club at the start of action in Fil-A division of the 60th Fil-Am golf tournament at the BCC course yesterday.

The Guam-based golf squad drew a pair of 31s from Louie Sunga and Mike Castro while teener Mando Iwanaga and Ray Blas added 30 and 25, respectively, as it showed up the hosts at the short but tricky layout.

Bing Mercado scored 28 points to pace BCC’s 100-point output. Jeff Razon made a 26, Joe Concepcion scored a 24 while Nelson Eslao added 22 points.

Over at Camp John Hay, Camp Aguinaldo assembled a 102 to post an eight-point lead in Am-A.

Antonio Bautista shot 34 points, equivalent to two-over 71 in stroke play, while Felix Pascual and Antonio dela Cruz backed him up with 29 and 25 points, respectively. Raul Gonzales and Lorenzo each shot 24 points, one of which counted for the team. 

Ultra Flite GC I, with August Cruz firing 26 points, made a 99 to place third in Fil-Am. Butch Bakunawa and Dennis Nicomedes each shot 25 points while Rey Taltala made 23 points.
