MANILA, Philippines - Frontrunning University of Santo Tomas and Adamson University return from a two-week stint in the Unigames to resume their respective campaigns in the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 elimination phase at The Arena in San Juan City today (Tuesday).

The Tigresses, unbeaten in five games on a team built around Aiza Maizo, Angeli Tabaquero and Maruja Banaticla, take on the St. Benilde Blazers in the 2 p.m. opener of a triple-bill that also features the Far Eastern U-Lyceum contest at 4 p.m. and the Adamson-San Sebastian duel at 6 p.m.

The Blazers, who ousted the UP Maroons from the quarterfinal race with a victory last Sunday for a 2-4 slate, need one more win to complete the quarters cast but face a formidable task of beating the Tigresses, who are out to keep their win run going heading into the next phase.

Lyceum, winless in five games, also needs to sweep its last two games and hope for a St. Benilde loss to force a playoff for the sixth and last QF seat. But the Lady Pirates will have to dish out a solid game to beat Far Eastern U, in second with an impressive 5-1 card, and spearheaded by the league’s leading scorers in Cherry Vivas and Shaira Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, Adamson, headed by Pau Soriano and Jill Gustilo, tries to stop the streaking San Sebastian side which is coming off a scary five-set win over Ateneo-OraCare last Sunday.

That gave the Lady Stags, led by Joy Benito, Margarita Pepito, Melissa Mirasol and Jinni Mondejar, a 4-1 card for third with UST, FEU and SSC all seeking victories to firm up their slates going into the next round of the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and backed by Accel, Mikasa, Mighty Bond and OraCare.

Games can be viewed live on webcast on www.v-league.ph, according to the organizing Sports Vision while NBN-4 will telecast the matches on a delayed basis, starting with the UST-St. Benilde game at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
