Loyola-ATR booters trim Global-Smartmatic

MANILA, Philippines - Loyola-ATR KimEng FC notched its first win in the LBC-United Football League Cup, beating Global-Smartmatic FC, 3-0, to boost its bid for a quartefinal seat.

Winger Zaldy Maranon scored off a Pedro Mortillero cross-field pass to break the scoreless first half before Power Valeroso knocked in a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

Dexter Versario then scored on a header from a Gino Tongson pass as Loyola capped its second half romp over the Global booters.

In other games, Army-Phiten blanked Sunken Garden United FC, 10-0, while Airforce-Rider came away with a 4-2 win over Lions-Alaska FC.

Union-Rudy Project FC posted a 2-0 victory over Mama Africa FC while Kaya-Digiprint FC, led by Izzeldin El Habbib and Yannick Tuason, defeated Mendiola-Egames, 5-3, in Group D. Kaya scored four goals while holding Mendiola scoreless in the first half. Nomads-Aloha Boardsports FC nipped Manila All Japan-Kline FC, 1-0.
