MANILA, Philippines - University of Santo Tomas goes for its third straight victory as it clashes with Lyceum even as Adamson shoots for its second win in three games against UP in the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 at the Blue Eagle gym in Ateneo today.
The Tigresses pulled off a pair of four-setters over Adamson and Far Eastern U to kick off their bid for a sweep of the season’s twin conferences. But UST coach Cesael de los Santos remains far from being satisfied and believes his wards can improve more in their next games.
The España-based squad toppled Adamson in the opening game, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, then bucked a first-set loss to repulse FEU, 17-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17, last Tuesday.
Against Lyceum in their 4 p.m. clash, UST will be squaring off with the team which dragged Adamson into a five-setter before bowing out, 25-20, 13-25, 25-23, 18-25,15-13.
Adamson, meanwhile, is tipped to prevail over UP in the 2 p.m. opener with Pau Soriano, Jill Gustillo Angela Benting and guest player Charmaine Moralde expected to lead the Lady Falcons’ pursuit for a second win against a loss.
Skipper Aiza Maizo, Angeli Tabaquero, Roxanne Pimentel and Maruja Banaticla will again carry the cudgels for the Tigresses, who are setting out for the third straight playdate in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and backed by Accel, Mikasa, Mighty Bond and OraCare.
The Lady Pirates will be leaning on Joy Cases, Nica Guliman, Nicolette Tabafunda and Jamie Peña in their bid to stop the Tigresses’ early surge in the single round-robin elims of the event organized by Sports Vision where the top six will advance to the quarters.
Meanwhile, the UST-FEU game last Tuesday will be shown starting at 2 p.m. today on NBN-4. Games can be viewed live on webcast at www.v-league.ph.
