MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), an annual search for the country’s collegiate basketball champion, has signed an agreement with ABS-CBN for the coverage of its games over the next five years.
The games will be aired nationwide and in countries serviced by ABS-CBN network.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed on behalf of ABS-CBN by president and chief operating officer Ma. Rosario Santos-Concio, chief finance officer Rolando Valdueza, and managing director for Manila Radio and Sports Peter Musngi.
Gabby Lopez, chairman of ABS-CBN witnessed the signing.
PCCL chairman Reynaldo D. Gamboa signed the agreement on behalf of the league, with Oscar Reyes, vice chairman of PCCL, as witness.
Also present for PCCL were Pablo “Boy” de Borja, corporate secretary, and Anette de Ocampo, marketing assistant.
Musngi said the tie-up with PCCL is another step being taken by ABS-CBN to help promote and develop collegiate basketball nationwide.
“We hope to duplicate the success we achieved in covering the UAAP and NCAA games. The media exposure of provincial champion teams, hopefully, will provide motivation for upgrading their competitiveness,” Musngi added.
Manny Pangilinan, president of Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas (SBP), has given his full backing to the PCCL.
The Champions League is backed by PLDT and Smart Communications.
