MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que grabbed the No. 10 spot in the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit rankings, coming out of nowhere to break into the top rankings following a solid stint in the Omega European Masters in Switzerland last week.
Que, the reigning Philippine Open champion, bagged $69,620 for his Euro feat, more than doubling his earnings in his first 10 tournaments in a fine season that included a Top 8 finish in the Black Mountain Masters in Thailand and 11th place effort in the Selangor Masters in Malaysia.
He now has winnings of $130,849, just $6,000 short of ninth running Bae Sang-Moon of Korea and $15,000 behind No. 8 Adam Blyth of Australia with still nine legs left in the season.
Juvic Pagunsan is in 22nd with $78,179.
Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee continued to show the way with a whopping $870,517 earnings, twice more than second running Anthony Kang of the US, who had 384,763.
Jaidee was the best placed Asian at No. 5 in the Euro Masters where he bagged $121,227.
Meanwhile, Que hopes to keep his fine form as he opens his bid in the Macau Open beginning today. He is paired with Kane Webber and Mardan Mamat in the 12:15 p.m. flight on No. 1.
Other Filipinos seeing action in the $500,000 event are Pagunsan, Artemio Murakami, Mars Pucay, Tony Lascuna, Jay Bayron, Michael Bibat, Jerome Delariarter and Gene Bondoc.
