MANILA, Philippines - Peter Villaber wavered coming home and fumbled with a two-over par 74 but remained at the helm at the start of the last stage of the two-part elims for the Nomura Cup squad at Riviera’s Couples course in Silang, Cavite yesterday.
The long-hitting Davaoeño pooled a 287, just one ahead of reigning national champion and Calatagan bet Mhark Fernando, who matched par 72 for a 288.
Antonio Asistio II also faltered with a 74 for a 292 while ICTSI teammate Rufino Bayron carded a 72 and stood a stroke adrift at 293 with two rounds left in the elims conducted by the National Golf Association of the Phils.
Jhonnel Ababa turned in a 73 and remained within striking distance of the third and fourth spots at 294 while Albin Engino made a 74 and had a 300.
