MANILA, Philippines - Arnel Romero and jungolfer Lawrence Celestino continued their winning ways by topping Class A of the recent members monthly tournament of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Playing the best-ball format, Romero and Celestino combined for a net six-under-par 66 in tough weather conditions to beat Korean expats Kim Young-sook and Kang Joon-eon.
Romero and Celestino are the scramble champions of their club and recently powered Eagle Ridge to victory in the Mizuno Scramble Classic grand finals.
Edwin Tan and Leonard Villalon took Class C unchallenged with the day’s lowest score of 17-under 55.
Lee Myung-keun and Kim Jin-soo won Class B with a 64, Rafaela Kim and Teresita Rutherford prevailed in the ladies side with a 63 while Carlos Agustin and Adelio Domingo were the seniors champions with a 60. Daniel de Guzman and Romy Chua took the member-guest category with a 60.
The next monthly tourney is set on Sept. 12 which also serves as the start of the qualifying series for the club’s Philippine Airlines Interclub team.
Major events scheduled for late August at Eagle Ridge are the Kawanua Cup on Aug. 26 and the Mapua Invitational on Aug. 28.
