Big firms back Highlands Ladies Cup

MANILA, Philippines - San Miguel Corp. and CATS Motors have renewed their support to the Highlands Ladies Cup, coming in as platinum sponsors of the event, which gets going Aug. 15 at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.

Ramon Santiago, vice president for corporate affairs of San Miguel Corp., and Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, distributor of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge in the country, recently signed the contracts, making them the chief backers of the fourth staging of the annual event organized by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter.

Other supporters are Unilever and Smart (Gold), Pagcor, Pilipinas Shell, Bank of Commerce, Security Bank, Comworks (Silver), and Odyssey Music, Dunkin’ Donuts, H & E Mfg. Corp., Philippine Airlines, Coca-Cola Corp., Universal Robina Corp., Marie France, Rudy Project and Concrete Masters Inc. (Bronze).

The THLC is headed by event’s chairperson Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, president Dionne Cu and officials Hedy See, Rosalind Wee and Connie Mamaril.

Hole-in-one prizes will be up for grabs in the event, including a round trip ticket to the US, courtesy of Northwest Airlines, and a brand-new golf cart from Club Car.

Organizers said a maximum field of 150 players will be clashing for top honors in various divisions in the one-day tournament also staged to foster camaraderie and friendship among the country’s lady golfers, sponsors and friends from the government and private sectors.

Tagaytay Highlands president Jerry Tiu and Willy Ocier, vice chair of Tagaytay Highlands will lead the roster of guests in the ceremonial tee-off.

The tournament will have a shotgun start and will be played under the System 36 scoring format.
