MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled Carlos Anton of Mark Young- Yokohama racing team bagged his third straight King of the Hill crown in the Castrol-Magnatech Philippine Hillclimb Series which ended recently in La Union.
With this latest crown Anton now has 17 national championships in a 20-year-career that includes three slalom crowns, two in karting, one in dirt trials, seven in touring cars, one Formula Car crown and three hillclimb plums with the support of Yokohama, Hornitex Laminated Flooring, Total Fuels and Lubricants, Home outlet, Autoshack, and Gerco hardware.
“It feels great to win this title again. Being from Baguio City, I feel like it’s a must that the crown be kept here. I have been blessed and I thank the Lord for keeping me safe and successful all these years,” said Anton.
“And since its inception three years ago, we won every race of the Hillclimb Championship using Yokohama Tires, a true testament to the superiority of the Advan tires,” he added.
The Castrol-Magnatech series drew over 60 participants competing for the titles at stake.
Anton’s teammate, Dennis Aoyong of Hornitex-Total-Yokohama, figured in a crash, almost flipping his car and damaging his suspension while gunning for the best time of the day.
Aoyong ended the year losing his Group 3 crown to fellow Baguio racer Jason Dipasupil of Special Stage Team.
Anton’s next stop is the 3rd round of the Philippine Autocross series in Bulacan, a series he is also currently leading.
“This third title for our team with Carlos is very special, it shows how hard our team works at winning,” said team owner Mark Young on Anton’s latest achievement.
