Yeah, it's Yi; Jenny fires 65

SYLVANIA, Ohio – Eunjung Yi recorded eight birdies and an eagle in a 10-under 61 Saturday to build a four-shot lead at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.

The 21-year-old Yi, who has never finished better than a tie for 11th in her 23 LPGA Tour events, was at 18-under 195 after putting up the lowest third-round score in the tournament’s 25 years. Song-Hee Kim (64) and Morgan Pressel (67) were tied for second.

Jennifer Rosales turned in her lowest round in a long, long while when she fired a stirring six-under par 65 to move to joint 24th.

Rosales, who churned out a season-best finish of joint 21st in last week’s Wegman’s LPGA in New York, had eight birdies in the day against two bogeys to pool a 205 at the par 34-37 layout.

She stood 10 strokes behind Yi but her 65 is expected to fire up the two-time LPGA winner as she bids for a top 15 finish in the $1.4 million tournament.

In shooting that 65, Rosales actually kept the momentum of her big rally in the second round where she racked four birdies in the last 13 holes to card a 69 and make the cut.

She opened the third round with back-to-back birdies, added another one on No. 5, before closing out her frontside stint with back-to-back birdies to negate a bogey-mishap on the par-3 No. 6 for a 30.         (With AP)
