MANILA, Philippines - Pharex, Adamson-Express Bank and Army of Gen. Charlie Holganza scored contrasting wins over respective rivals to keep their share of the lead in the MBT Women’s Championships held over the weekend at the Reyes gym in Mandaluyong.
Marsha Faustino starred for Pharex anew, coming through with a tough basket with only three seconds left to lift Pharex to a pulsating 70-68 win over Ever Bilena for its third straight win in the tournament sponsored by Pagcor, Burlington, Express Bank, Wilson, Careline Pilipinas, Ever Bilena and Molten, the official ball of MBT.
The Charlie’s Angels of Army proved too classy for Careline Pilipinas-RP Youth, 75-44, while the Lady Falcons overpowered RTU belles, 87-45.
The tournament is organized by MBT through commissioner Nilo Fernandez and supported by LWUA chairman Prospero Pichay and Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares III.
Jo Roma and Sai Sadorra led Pharex with 21 and 18 points, respectively. Joann Gregorio paced Ever Bilena with 19 points.
Lyceum and PMI improved to 2-1 by downing separate rivals.
