Eight buffs pass tough driver challenge

MANILA, Philippines - Eight race driver wannabees displayed top form as they qualified into the next round of the seventh C! Top Driver Challenge which kicked off recently at the Megatrade Hall of the SM Megamall.

Over 200 participants joined the challenge, but only these eight racing enthusiasts were tough enough to pass the rigorous qualifying rounds of this event powered by Ford Racing and presented by Goodyear racing, Speedlab, OMP, Fremuff, H&R, Dupont, Starbright Body Kits, ROTA Wheels, C! Magazine, Aguila Auto Glass, K&N, Businessworld, Unichip, Philippine Auto Club, Wheel to Wheel.ph, Discovery Suites.

Alvin Ng emerged champion at the Video Game Challenge after posting the best time with Jay Christopher Miole and Michael Allison Vergara finishing second and third.

TJ Chiong was the only girl in the Magic 8. The other qualifiers were Faustiono Rodolfo, Kristian Allen Escoto, Timothy Melendrez and Paolo Bringas.

The qualifiers will move on to the Time Attack Challenge at Subic International Raceway on June 27.

Dubbed as the Search for the Next Racing Superstar, the event is a scholarship program by Tuason Racing School, one of the best Asian racing schools, in cooperation with Ford Focus and C! Magazine, aimed at ensuring the smooth transition of talents in RP Motorsports.

After the Time Attack Challenge, the top three with the highest scores will undergo the coveted TRS circuit car training at Subic International Raceway and proved themselves worthy for the seventh C! Top Driver crown.

Interested participants may still join Round 2, but the stakes and registration fee are higher.
