TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines - – People will have their full attention not on the overall results of the Palarong Pambansa but on today’s live telecast of the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton bout in Las Vegas.
The Pacquiao-Hatton showdown will be shown live and for free on the widescreen monitor located inside the Leyte Sports Development Center.
For the first time in the history of the annual multi-sports meet for elementary and high school athletes, organizers took it upon themselves to broadcast most of the games live.
Spectators can watch on the state-of-the-art widescreen some events like centerpiece athletics, tennis, volleyball, basketball and swimming – rain or shine.
The treat, from host Gov. Jericho “Icot” Petilla to all delegation members and local folks here, should fill the 10,000-seater grandstand to the rafters since organizers had already announced it on local television networks here. – Joey Villar
