MANILA, Philippines - Toby’s Sports, one of the leading sports stores in the country, will release a new line of badminton rackets from the popular brand RSL.
Duncan Chau, business development manager of D.H. Shuttlecocks Limited, makers of RSL products, visited the country recently to promote eight new badminton rackets, including the top of the line Diamond X3 series Gold and Silver.
“Basically, the new series has a much bigger sweet spot and more forgiving because you don’t have to hit the exact same spot to hit the most powerful shot you can,” said Chau, who personally conducted product testing at the Power Smash Gym in Makati City.
“Not only that it widens the sweet spot so you can hit better, its extended technology also gives you more control,” he added.
Also launched were the 9900, 9600, 9500, 9180, 9110 and 9100 brands all weighing just 84-89 grams.
Toby Claudio, Toby’s Sports vice president for operation, said the new RSL line will be out in the market this June at all Toby’s Sports branches nationwide.
“We’ll have a thousand RSL rackets open for sale in June,” said Claudio, who was accompanied by Toby’s sports marketing supervisor Nicole Limon in the soft product launch Thursday night.
Toby’s Sports allowed players and badminton enthusiasts at Power Smash to test the new rackets.
“I tried it and it’s the best racket I’ve tried so far because it’s easier to handle especially when you’re a hard hitter, it’s a good racket for me,” said Francis Xavier, area manager of Prudential Plans, Inc.
“I have an old RSL and I’m contented with it but when I tried out the RSL 9900, it’s so much better, it’s lighter and has better control. I had an easier time controlling my drop shots using it,” said Morel Palmones, bank manager of Union Bank, Emerald Ave., Ortigas.– Joey Villar
