BAGUIO , Philippines – Fagioli Coffee Club put on a solid windup to score a come-from-behind victory in Group 2 with 136 points while Camp John Hay Golf Club lorded it over the field to capture the seniors crown in the CJH Suites 21st Philippine Corporate Cup here late Wednesday.
CJH Suites 2, meanwhile, took charge in the centerpiece Group 1 division, assembling a 162 to open a huge 12-point lead over defending champion CJH Devco, which had a 150.
Jung Soo Park frolicked with 61 points while Il Hun Jeong came through with 57 and Bob Paterson chipped in 44 points for CJH Suites while Freddie Mendoza and Thirdy Escano fired identical 51 points and Shean Bedi added 48 for CJH Devco. Ricoh Phils. shot 145 for third while Rizgolf I had 144 for fourth.
Oscar Rebosura saved his best for last and sizzled with 51 Molave points at the CJH Golf Club while Willie Maldia shot 45 points and Joselito Gutierrez stepped up to fire 40 points as Fagioli rallied from fourth place with that 136 output to post a five-point victory over CJH Suites I with a 267.
Vic Rebosura, who counted for Fagioli with 43 points in the first round, finished with a 38 in the 36-hole, four-to-play, three-to-count format tournament presented by Camp John Hay Suites.
CJH Suites I, led by Jimmy Borromeo’s 47, settled for second with a 128-262 while first day leader Calamba Doctors Hospital A, behind John Calica’s 47, struggled with a 124-261 for third.
Jimmy Borromeo led CJH Suites I with 47 points while other scorers for CJH Suites I were Bob Sobrepeña (43) and Ed Montenegro (38), while Dom Amistad and Eli Malaya made 39 and 38 points, respectively, for the Calamba squad.
Imarflex Team I wound up fourth in Group 2 with a 260 after a 128 followed by Isabela Club Regular (132-254), Minero (130-249), Era Farm (132-248, Rizgolf 3 (126-245), Naktaynay (116-239) and Petron Ultron (129-236) in that order.
The CJH seniors team, meanwhile, proved too strong for the field as it ran away with a whopping 41-point romp over ABW Leaves of Live, closing out with a 155 for a 312 aggregate.
Clyde Cabreros, whose 49 didn’t count for the team in the first day, came away with 56 while Fred Puckett had 51 and Jong Won Park made 48 points for the host club.
ABW Leaves of Live, with Buddy Velayo carding 52 points and Albert Garcia firing 51, pooled a 147 for a 271 while SMC Chemicals, behind the 43 points of Cres Bendijo and Jun Belicena, wound up third with a 251 after a 128.
