MANILA, Philippines - The SBP33@SM Supermalls will hold its second week of search for the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas’ (SBP) representatives to the coming World Youth Olympics set in Singapore in 2010.
SBP executive director Noli Eala reported positive response from players as young as 12 years old when the first weekend registration was held last week at the SM City Davao.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of players, many of them are in high school, who would want to form teams of four, with at least a player standing at least six feet, and earn a chance to compete in the World Youth Olympics next year in Singapore,” Eala said.
With the World Youth Olympics as their main target, the group of SBP Youth commission and organizing committee chairman Nic Jorge, competitions commission chairman Bernie Atienza, technical commission chairman Perry Martinez, marketing committee chairman Junjun Capistrano, and finance committee chairman Jay Adalem which organized the event, also offered another trip to the World Youth Games set in July, also in Singapore.
The Davao registration booths are still open until March 13-15.
Meanwhile, new booths will also open from March 13-15 at the SM Supermall in Cagayan de Oro.
The Davao regional competitions will be held from March 20-22, while the Cagayan de Oro competitions are set March 27-29.
