MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Smart Liga Pilipinas Conference II resumes today at two separate venues with hosts teams Harbour Centre-Taguig Batang Global and Iloilo Mang Inasals out to defend their respective turfs against separate opponents.
The Mang Inasals will have their hands full as they try to stay alive against the Liga Tour leader Trace-Laguna Stallions and third running the Manila Capitals at the Pototan Astrodome in Pototan, Iloilo.
Also in the Iloilo cast are the Zamboanga Zambos.
Over in Taguig City, the Batang Global takes on the MP Warriors of GenSan, the Ilocos Sur Bravehearts and the Quezon Red Oilers at the C. P. Tinga Memorial Hall.
Taguig is currently tied with the MP Warriors for eight place with 10 points each. Only the top eight teams will advance to next month’s national playoffs of the event backed up by Smart, ML Kwarta Padala, Accel, Air 21, Burlington, Nature’s Spring, Laptop Phoneshop Exchange and Molten and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
Taguig routed GenSan in their first meeting this conference in the Pampanga leg, 86-56.
The Bravehearts and Red Oilers hope to also do well to stay in the hunt for the top four slots.
Ilocos Sur is in No. 4 with 20 points while the Red Oilers are in sixth with 17 points. The M. Lhuillier-Cebu Niños, who swept last week’s Manila leg, tote 19 points. The Red Oilers are also out to pull away from the seventh running Smart-Pampanga Buddies, who have 16 points.
The Mang Inasals (four points) and Zambos (six) need no less than the leg championship to stay alive.
