MANILA, Philippines - Bert Sison and guest partner Art Ampaya ruled the Manila Southwoods seniors’ chapter, led by president Ben Borja and vice president Paco Gonzalez, on Feb. 11 at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club.
Sison and Ampaya combined for 126 in the aggregate play at the Legends course, then added 57 in the best-ball format at the Masters layout for a net 183 to win the overall net team championship over more than 90 two-man senior teams.
“Our seniors chapter was very elated with the turnout. We thank the all-out support of Manila Southwoods chairman Bob Sobrepeña and all our club seniors for participating in this inaugural event,” Borja said.
The Jun Fontanilla-Boy Unson tandem shared podium honors as the overall gross champions with 218. Also awarded trophies were Eugene Arriesgado and Oscar Papa (Class A), Mario Badillo and Rey Franco (Class B) and Sonny Tambunting and Bobby Milan (Class C).
Frank Puzon carted away a Yamaha golf cart, the main raffle prize, courtesy of Kart Plaza.
An iron set from Wilson Sports, a Hybrid ERC driver from Callaway, an S-yard golf bag from U-Bix/Bravo Golf and vacation packages from Boracay Sands Hotel and Camp John Hay were also given away.
Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils., Elro Commercial and Industrial Corp./Rider, Motolite, and Rudy Project were major sponsors. CargoAire Freight Forwarders, CG Airconditioning Services, Goodyear, Federal Mgt. and Maintenance, Inc., Healthy and Young, Phelps Dodge, Superior Maintenance Services were backers.
