Tiu eyes 3-peat in drag racing

Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing hopes to cap his domination of the Pagcor Drag Racing Championships-Northern Series as the country’s first ever triple crown winner goes for another win in the event firing off tomorrow at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) Drag Strip.

After pulling off back-to-back title romps at the Batangas Racing Circuit, Tiu annexed another win in the last race, moving closer to becoming the pioneer champion of the Pagcor Drag Racing Championships-Northern Series.

He now has a total of 35 points, 20 points ahead of his rivals, with Tiu out to break a personal all-time fastest quarter-mile record of 9.305 seconds in the premiere Quick 8 division of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

With Tiu unassailably ahead, focus will be on the four-way battle for runner-up honors among Ken Kepner of Garage Power, David Lim of DGL Motorsports, Christian Go of Blanche Racing and Vanni Garcia of W. Autosport-Vannitec.

Kepner, in his classic Camaro, shares second place with Lim, in his Honda Chop Top, with identical 15 points apiece.
